Luz Mila is a leader in her community, at first seems shy, but in a matter of minutes allows us to meet a very laid-back woman, with very clear criteria about life; deeply proud of her roots and her art.
It began as a young girl and during her Enclosure or “Encierro” , ritual through which a girl becomes a woman and learns to behave as such according to Wayúu traditions. She likes to knit with company, because in that way she can compare her work with colleagues and it is a opportunity for improvement.
She loves to innovate and dream, which has led her to assume a leadership role in her family and community. She is observant and when other weavers want to work with her she pays attention to the “strong” position of the sewing before giving her concept about the work of another artisans.
