KEILA SOLANO

Zahino Community

Keyla, is part of the new generation of Wayúu indigenous, which combines the use of communication technologies with the realization of crafts.

She recognizes that it was thanks to the crafts that her mother finished her raising and is how she will also help, along with her husband to raise their two children.

She learned from her mother when she was 9 years old. What she enjoy the most is making the plate or the base of the “Mochila”. At that moment she lets her mind fly and says that she feels that her hand alone is knitting the ideas that are coming out of her head. On the contrary the hardest part of knitting is half of the “Mochila”, because at that point there are not many possibilities to create new figures.
